1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how NumberScout ("NumberScout", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information about visitors and customers located in the United States, and the rights available to you under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA ("CCPA"). 2. Categories of personal information we collect
In the last 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: email address, the phone numbers you search, IP address and similar online identifiers.
- Commercial information: your subscription status, purchase history and reports you have unlocked.
- Payment information: handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited billing details but never your full card number.
- Internet activity: pages visited, interactions with the service, browser and device information, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Customer support records: messages you send us and our replies.
We collect this information directly from you, automatically from your device when you use the service, and from our payment processor.
3. How we use personal information
- to run the searches you request and deliver your reports;
- to process payments, manage subscriptions and send transactional emails;
- to provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- to secure the service, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms & Conditions;
- to understand how the service is used and improve it; and
- with your consent, to send you email updates and privacy tips.
4. Selling and sharing of personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. Like many websites, we may use analytics and advertising cookies that could be considered "sharing" or a "sale" under the broad definitions in some state privacy laws. You can opt out of this at any time by emailing support@numberscout.org with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information", or by declining non-essential cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. We honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where required by law. We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of anyone under 18 years of age.
5. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:
- know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and
- not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@numberscout.org from the email address associated with your account and tell us which right you want to exercise. We will confirm receipt and respond within the time required by law, typically 45 days. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf; we will require proof of the agent's authority.
6. Retention
We keep each category of personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy: account and billing records for the life of your subscription plus the period needed for tax, accounting and dispute-handling purposes, and technical logs for shorter periods before deletion or anonymization.
7. Important limits on our service
NumberScout is not a consumer reporting agency and the information we provide is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You may not use NumberScout to make decisions about credit, employment, insurance, housing or tenant screening, or for any other purpose that requires FCRA compliance.
